Peekaboo! Kate Mara shows some skin as she leads a slew of celebrities in Alexander Wang's new collaboration with H&M

Standing out in a crowd is hard, standing out in a crowd of celebrities is harder, and standing out in a crowd of celebrities while all wearing the same designer is near impossible.

Yet somehow, Kate Mara managed to do just that at the Alexander Wang x H&M Collection launch on Thursday night in New York.

The 31-year-old had her pick of the coveted new collection - which is yet to hit stores - and chose one of the more wearable, yet risque pieces, that showed off plenty of skin.

The House Of Cards star donned one of the designer's dresses that featured translucent panels across her legs, stomach, arms and chest.

The black short sleeved frock put the star's slender figure on display but, she made sure to not reveal too much by wearing a bandeau top under the snakeskin-inspired cut out section across the dress' front.

The 31-year-old star then accessorised her pick with a snakeskin clutch and strappy black heels.

Here at Fashion Finder HQ we can hardly contain our excitement at the impending Alexander Wang line for H&M, so it's fair to say emotions were running high when we saw the celebs hitting up the launch party last night.

One stand out star for us was the ever-stylish Kate Mara who was totally rocking this mesh dress which featured translucent panels that showed just the right amount of flash.

Unfortunately for us the line isn't in stores until November 6th so for those of us who are getting a little impatient why not shop Kate's edgy look with this mesh detailed dresses below?

As Alexander Wang is known for his fashion forward styles, Kate who normally plays it quiet safe, tried to look a bit edgier by wearing her hair in an unusually asymmetrical updo.

For the event - which saw Missy Elliot perform along with Sharaya J - Kate also did not wear the ring on her wedding finger that has been causing so much fuss of late.

Also standing out, put probably not for all the wrong reasons, was Melissa George.

Wearing the range from head-to-toe did not work as well for the 38-year-old Australian, with her edgy pick not entirely suited to her style.

The Grey's Anatomy star stepped out in a pair of partial leather tracksuit pants with a tiny crop top that showed off her very flat stomach.

Melissa accessorised the look with a black zip up jacket perched on her shoulders, wetsuit booties, gloves and a black choker.

Fashion fans will have to wait a little longer yet with the range, which varies from $349 for leather pants to $12.95 for a pair of socks, not on sale until November 6.
